  • What is the duration of the course?
    12-18 Months.
  • What age do I need to be to apply?
    Individuals aged 16 years and above are eligible to apply.
  • Will I have support?
    Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll have a dedicated assessor assigned to guide you from the beginning to successful completion. If you ever need extra support, your assessor is ready to provide the one-on-one assistance you may require at any stage.
  • What is the required time commitment for studying?
    We suggest dedicating around three hours per week to your coursework, ensuring a consistent and steady progress throughout the qualification.
  • What Experience or Skills are required?
    No experience in Early Years or childcare is necessary, however good communication skills and a passion for working with children is essential.
  • What Qualification will I receive at the end of my training?
    SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF level 7
  • Is there an Assessment or Exam?
    To pursue your SVQ, you will undergo observation in your work environment, collaborating with colleagues, children, and young people. Additionally, you will complete various written assessments and reflective accounts, providing insights into your practical experiences.
  • What is a PVG check, and why is it required for apprentices?
    A PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) check is a legal requirement carried out through Disclosure Scotland. It ensures that you are suitable and eligible to work with children under 5 in a regulated role.
